Larry’s Creek Watershed Assoc.

There is no greater responsibility that a community can undertake than protecting its watershed. Here in Cogan House Township the Larrys Creek Watershed Association has taken on that job. Clean water is essential for life. Threats to our clean water do not follow political boundaries, but occur within watersheds. Clean water in our streams mean healthy drinking water in our homes, safe water activities, such as swimming and boating in our backyards and abundant wildlife and natural resources in and around our aquatic environments. By joining LsCWA and volunteering on cleanup and restoration projects, you play an important part in ensuring clean water, not only for yourself, but for future generations.

The LsCWA meets the fourth Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Mifflin Township Building located off Route 973 West. Directions to the township complex are: From Route 287 take Route 973 West, turn on the first road to the right at the township’s recreation field.

Since the LsCWA was organized they have worked with the gas companies currently operating in Cogan House Township, the Jersey Shore Water Authority, DEP, and the Lycoming County Conservation Department to assure the high quality of Larrys Creek is retained. The organization acts as a voice for airing potential threats and concerns to the watershed with the appropriate authorities.

Those wishing to support this vital effort to keep our water safe may join the LsCWA. Membership dues are as follows: Individual – 18 to 64 – $10.00 per year/$100.00 lifetime; Youth/Senior – Under 18 or over 65 – $5.00 per year; Sponsor – Any organization or individual – $50.00 per year/$500.00 lifetime.

Please make checks out to LsCWA with your name, address, phone number and e-mail (if applicable) and send it to LsCWA, P.O. Box 64, Trout Run, PA 17771. A post card acknowledging your membership will be sent to you.

Currently the Association is looking for volunteers willing to fill several vacancies. Please call John Knopp at 998-9566 if you are willing to help this group continue to advocate for the well being of Larrys Creek Watershed.
